About
I am fortunate that I am able to work everyday doing something that I am extremely passionate about. My studio is seconds from my home and I am always working on some form or idea, whether it be in clay or messing around with my camera. I am honored to be able to share my creative musings with you. I hope you find my work as enjoyable as I do.
Many years ago, when I was young, my Mum used to constantly take me to art fairs and artist studios in my community. I grew up thinking that everybody make their own art. One day, there was a table that encouraged kids to have a go with a lump of clay. The story was told that I was so engrossed that my Mum left me to 'experiment' for a number of hours. I didn't realize at the time that this would lead me to eventually follow my passion for the world of clay.
Through my high school and university years, I was an avid photographer. I picked up a film camera at a young age and never really put it down. I rediscovered the darkroom around the time when many had disappeared. I didn't embrace digital and have kept using film, mostly black and white. The imagery I use on my ceramics is what I have shot with film. Any excuse to use a camera older than myself makes me very happy.
For the past twenty-five years I have been working creating functional pottery. I studied at Sheridan College for two years under the tutelage of Canada's best ceramic instructors and peers. My work is constantly evolving and I strive to be inspired by my surroundings. Historical ceramics from many time periods fill me with wonder and awe.
If I'm not working on the potters wheel or fiddling with a camera, I get a little wacky.
